New York Engagement Session at Gantry Plaza State Park

As a New York wedding photographer, one of my greatest joys is capturing the unique love stories of each couple I work with. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session at the beautiful Gantry Plaza State Park. Nestled along the East River in Long Island City, this park offers a stunning backdrop that perfectly encapsulates the essence of New York City romance.

The day of the shoot was one of those idyllic New York days - the sun was shining brightly, the sky was a clear, brilliant blue, and the temperature was just right. As soon as I arrived at Gantry Plaza State Park, I knew we were in for a fantastic session. The park’s picturesque scenery, with its lush greenery, history gantries, and breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, provides endless opportunities for stunning photographs.

Ashley and Jerry, the couple whose love I was there to capture, were just as radiant as the day itself. They arrived at the park looking elegant and effortlessly in love. Ashley wore a stunning dark navy dress, while Jerry looked dapper in a crisp shirt, tailored trousers and a subtly patterned blazer. From the moment we started, their chemistry was undeniable - every glance, every touch was filled with genuine affection and joy.

We began the session just outside of the park where there were garage doors that were painted with vibrant colors. This made for a striking contrast that made the couple pop which were perfect for some candid close-ups. I still remember their laughter as I captured their playful interactions. As we moved through the park, we took advantage of its diverse scenery. The long rails along the edge of the park made for perfect leading lines that led your eyes to the couple with the New York city as the backdrop. The lush, green lawns provided a soft, romantic setting where the couple could relax and simply enjoy each other’s company.

This engagement session was nothing short of magical. The combination of a perfect sunny day, a stunning location, and a deeply-in-love couple made for some truly remarkable photographs. Ashley and Jerry were a joy to work with, and their love story was beautifully highlighted against the backdrop of one of New York City’s most scenic parks.
