A late-summer celebration on the fairways of a Jersey Shore club dating back to 1898
Deal Golf & Country Club
Founded in 1898, Deal Golf & Country Club in Deal, New Jersey, is one of the oldest clubs on the Jersey Shore: a white clubhouse with green-and-white striped awnings, old oaks along the fairways and a lawn that rolls right up to the course. On a bright September day, a couple who grew up just up the road in Asbury Park made the most of every bit of it.
A first look under the oaks
The bride got ready at home with her mom and bridesmaids, and the groom at a hotel about 15 minutes from the club. Then the two of them met on the fairway, read their letters to each other and then took off running across the grass.
A ceremony on the lawn
Guests sat facing a wooden arch dressed in peach, blush and blue flowers, with the clubhouse behind them and the course stretching out ahead. One of the bride's close friends officiated, her mom shared a reading, and a dip of a kiss sent everyone cheering.
A reception that never slowed down
Their names glowed on the dance floor for the first dance, the toasts had everyone laughing, and once the light-up wands came out the party didn't stop until the couple's last cheer under the clubhouse awning.
